Although my room was fine, everyone else I traveled with (9 people in 5 rooms), had major issues which eventually affected me as well. Most of the rooms had problems that required them to move to other rooms. On the morning of our last day, the power flickered in some rooms and went out completely in other rooms. I was on the 25th floor and our elevators were not working. Luckily, one of the service elevators was working so I didn't have to take the stairs. We returned about 6 hours later and the power was still out. The service elevator was still being used. Later one of the main elevators was usable for down trips. We had a 7 am flight so left the hotel at 4:30 am. I had to figure out how to get downstairs from the 25th floor. I figured out that one of the main elevators was working so I chanced it and went down by myself. None of this was convenient. I do know that things happen, but there was no communication about what was going on. We had to figure everything out ourselves. This was not handled well at all.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Riu Plaza Manhattan. The location was excellent for exploring New York City, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.

I have never stayed at a hotel that utilized the key card for access to the room AC and lights. Quite unique for me. There was one glitch. Not all the elevators would accept our key card to go to our floor. This created unnecessary delays getting back and forth. We were in 0822, if that helps to target the issue. The breakfast that was included was quite delicious. There were plenty of options that I could eat with my food allrrgies. With the exception of the elevator issue, we had a very comfortable stay.

The rooms are clean, the staff was lovely and very helpful
